Major James Crowe
Lieutenant-Colonel (LCol) James “Jesus” Crowe grew up in Oakville, Ontario and joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 2003. LCol Crowe completed a degree in Commercial Aviation Management from the University of Western Ontario under the Regular Officer Training Plan in 2007.
LCol Crowe commenced pilot training at 2CFFTS in Moose Jaw Sk as a part of class 0804. LCol Crowe earned his wings in June of 2009 and was selected as a candidate for CF188 training. In February of 2010 he began Fighter Lead in training with 419 Tac F(T) Sqn followed by the CF188 Fighter pilot course at 410 Tac F (OT) Sqn in Cold Lake.
In July of 2011 LCol Crowe completed his training with 410 Tac F (OT) Sqn and was posted to 409 Tac F Sqn (TFS), the Nighthawks. LCol Crowe participated in the NORAD alert mission, NATO air policing under Op Reassurance and Operation Impact combating ISIS. LCol Crowe completed the Fighter Weapons Instructor Course in 2015 and was posted to 401 TFS, the Rams, as part of the initial cadre. In 2016 LCol Crowe was posted to 4 OSS as the Wing Standards Officer.
Following 2 years in Wing Standards and as the Senior Mission Monitor for Ex Maple Flag LCol Crowe was posted to the 525 FS “Bulldogs” at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska as part of the ongoing exchange program with the United States Air Force. This exchange included a 6-month deployment around the Pacific theatre.
After 4 years in Alaska LCol Crowe returned to Canada to Cold Lake and worked as Staff Officer Fighter Systems for 1 Canadian Air Division Fleet Readiness. LCol Crowe has been back with 409 TFS since 2024 and has acted as the Squadron Weapons and Tactics Officer and most recently as the Deputy Commanding Officer. LCol Crowe was promoted to his current Rank in June 2026 just prior to his assignment as Commanding Officer 409 Tac F Sqn.
